Subject: The Chosen Part 1

This story is fiction, all events characters and places were created on the
authors mind and this story doesn't show the way I think, just is a story,
this is my first attempt to write in English so I really hope you can
understand and if you like and you want that I keep posting more of this
story please let me know writing to the following e-mail

Any comment is welcome; if you find errors I appreciate you let me know
just please keep in your mind that English is not my native language, and
is not easy write in other language.

THE CHOSEN (1)

The School years only was one day a way to finished, and the school board
was reunited in their annual session to analyze the students' result, like
every year since the last century, all the students that could not reach
the minimum average in their notes they should be enslaved. Every parent
knew that and as always happened in this time of the year, they were very
nervous because since the last changes the top official in the education
minister had approved, had left the parents and the students with out any
knowledge about how their performance had been, the new rules that should
be applied at the beginning of that year said that through the school year
the students should not receive any information about how their notes were,
and only by intuition they should have an idea about if they were
performing over the minimum average or under it.

That night the nation's president was going to give his annual announcement
about how things were in the nation, and also giving other announcement he
tried to change the parents' thoughts into the new announcement he had to
say, but even his closers collaborators were aware that this wasn't going
to have any success.

The Andersen family Patriarch Anders who was 37 years old had reunited all
his 5 children in his house office, their names were Stanley, Nathan,
Spike, Robert and Jacob, all of them were 16 years old, but the first born
was Stanley, the second was Nathan the third Spike, the fourth Robert and
the fifth Jacob. The first one who arrived to his father office was as
usual Stanley, then Robert, Nathan and Jacob arrived together and the last
one was Spike.

"I called you this night because I have something very important to tell
you, as you know tomorrow we'll know who of you are going to be enslaved
and who is going to keep his freedom, and before you can say anything let
me tell you this and I want you to put attention because I'm not going to
repeat it, if one of you or more than one is enslaved I won't save you,
that means that under any circumstances I'm going to buy you, is your
responsibility to fulfill about what the law says, and it says you had to
keep a minimum average in your notes, so if you failed in that is your
responsibility and therefore you deserve to be enslaved, the only way you
could be finished working in any of my factories or properties is if some
of my slave scouts consider that you're good enough to work in any of the
activities the slaves perform for me"

"Father what is going to happen if all of us are enslaved" asked Spike.

"If this happens then is not your concern what I'm going to do, a slave
never knows what a free man does, the slave only obeys or faces the
consequences of his acts, so be aware what you fate might be if you're
enslaved"

"I can see you never have loved us" Spike said with sadness in his voice.

"You're wrong Spike, I love every one of you with all my heart, and if
you have any doubt about this just remember all you have and all that I
have done for every one of you, but you must understand that be a member of
the Andersen Family means commitment first to your self, second to your
family and then to the society you are part of, and any member of our
family should not be weak and irresponsible about his own duties, so this
is why if you mess up with your self then paid the consequences, the only
reason because our family is so prominent in this community, is because
every one of its members are commit to be a model to others community
members"

"You always have been more concerned about what others might say about you
and your family than really interested about what we might feel and think
about things"

And spike storm out furious from his father's office.

"Well I guess this is the end of our family reunion" Nathan said with
sarcasm in his voice.

"Just one more thing boys, remember I won't to save you in case you're
enslaved do you understand?"

"Yes Father we do" answered Stanley with a grin in his face.



Nathan, Robert and Jacob as they have arrived to his father's office they
left, but Jacob was very worried about Spike's behavior in front of his
father, he never has heard him talked him like that.

"Do you know if something is bothering Spike guys?"

"No Jacob, when I saw him earlier this afternoon he was in good spirit, so
perhaps he talked with some one who changed his mood"

"I guess he is nervous Robert, as every one of us is in this moment, and
unfortunately dad has struck a sensitive string in him"

"Nathan I'm sure about he is not nervous for himself he is very cleaver and
his notes are very high, just remember the last year, he was so confident
about his results that even we went to the movies"

"I remember perfectly that Nathan, but also until the last year they gave
us every month our notes average so we could know how we were performing
but with the changes of this year we don't have any idea about how things
are going"

"I'm very nervous guys, I don't know if I'm going to be successful this
year"

"Jacob, Spike was helping you all year long, and when every one of us
needed his help, he always gladly did his best to help every one of us"

"That's true Nathan; the only one who never asked for his help was Stanley"

"Come on Robert, you know that Stanley doesn't want anything with us, is
like if he were part of other family"

"Robert he hates us and you know that"

"I guess you're right about that Jacob, he always has looked at us if we
were shit or lower than that"

"But why? I don't understand the reason why he could have to be a way from
us.

"Jacob you know the gossips about Stanley's life"

"Yeah, and this terrified me"

"You're right Jacob, even the school's psychologist asked me if was true
that Stanley was posing nude for a porno magazine and even if he made porn
movies"

"Oh no Nathan, and what did you answer him?

"The true Robert, that I didn't know anything about Stanley's life outside
the school because we never have hanged out together"

"But that should be awful Nathan"

"If you're talking about what the teacher asked me, well was embarrassing
Jacob, but I have no choice, I just tell him the true"

"Do you think Dad knows about what Stanley does after school hours?"

"I guess he does Jacob, so for that reason I don't think that is true about
Stanley is into the porn business"

"Yeah, I'm sure Dad never would allow Stanley do stuffs like that"

"Can I ask you something guys about Spike"

"Sure Jacob, but I guess is better that you ask him than us"

"I know Nathan but I don't dare to ask him this"

Robert and Nathan looked at each other and raised their eyebrows.

"Ok, little brother, go ahead"

"Why our father named Spiked with this name and he didn't put a normal name
like us?"

Both brothers looked at each other surprised by the question.

"Well Jacob I guess you have to ask that to our father, I never thought
about that before, but now that you have asked, I guess is a good question,
do you know something about this Robert "

"Not really, so I guess your best option is go and ask to our father about
that, because I guess that even if you go an ask Spike about this, he can't
give you an answer"

"Oh no, I'll never do that"

"Come on little brother don't be a chicken"

"You know very well I'm not a chicken Robert, but you know how our dad is
about asking things that he might consider stupid"

"So do you think that your question is a stupid one little brother?"

"Stop calling me little brother for your information we have the same age,
and I don't think that my question is stupid, but I guess that our father
might consider it irrelevant, and you know very well that he don't like to
be disturbed by irrelevant things"

In that moment the three teenagers were surprised by his father voice.

"Jacob this is the last time I want to hear you asking about why I put you
the names you have, this is not your business so keep it for your self and
don't bother your brother with stupid questions, now let's go to watch the
TV set, I'm very interested about what our president has to say"



Anders and his three sons sat down in a comfortable couch in front of the
TV set and turned it on, at that moment the President was beginning to
speak.

"Good night fellow citizens, this night is my pleasure being with you and
at the same time let you know the advances this administration has reached
during this year, but you must to know that we have some challenges to face
and we have to figure out how we can work together to success in our task,
and with this make our nation one of the biggest economies in the world. As
you know the public finance were overwhelmed by all the people that was
living of the unemployment insurance so my administration had to cut it
some years a go and this gave us a great relief to allow the public finance
to be destined to create jobs and bring back hope to our people, the
slavery that was established since the last century hopefully has been very
successful and now our economy is doing very well, never the less we need
even more slave who can work in our farms, industries, even into the
government offices, so with this we can save money and we can invest in the

 education of our children."



"As your president and father of three children, I know that this night you
and even I are very nervous about tomorrow because every student and
parents are clueless about our children's notes, and if they are over the
minimum average to keep the right to study the next year or graduate from
college or be enslaved, also I know a lot of you think that is cruel and
even inhuman that the education authority had decided don't give them any
clue about their notes, but this is the only way we can assure that the
children and young men and women who are studding are the best, and the
money that we expend on them is the best inversion our tax payer can
do. There is some people that thinks that I'm not telling you the true,
because the next year some of this guys will be enslaved, and then the
money that the tax payer have invested in them was a waste, but let me tell
you that is not true, because every grade that a guy advances before he or
she is

 enslaved can be useful in our economy system for one reason, as higher is
his or her education then they can be used not only as labor force, also
they can be use in administrative areas, and even as advisors of the CEO's,
depending in their experience and educational level, to day a lot of
entrepreneurs use them as advisors to their customers, and they save to
their masters a lot of money because they don't need to pay them wages,
they just need to feed them and give them a space to sleep and all the
profits come to their owners, so as you can see the benefit is huge to the
people who buy them, also is true that the slave at this stage are not
cheap, but compare with the benefit they can bring them, if the
entrepreneur knows how to use them they can recover their investment in few
months, and if you have doubts about what I'm telling you, just remember
that one of my sons was enslaved two years a go, and his owner has known
how to use him in his

 own benefit, and for the information I have he is very pleased with the
slave who works in his administrative offices."



"Now as you know the slave industry has spread widely around the world, but
unfortunately we have been behind our neighbor countries and friends for
several years due to our legislation, so after a hard negotiation with the
congress and all the associations dedicated to protect the slaves rights or
best known as SPA (Slave Protection Associations), and due to the lack of
animals' meat to feed our people and as you know this problem is around the
world, and the lack of organs to provide to our citizens who need a
transplant as well, the legislation has changed and now we can use the
slaves' meat to feed our people, their organs to be used in transplants,
and their hide to be use in articles like wallets, briefcase, furniture,
clothes and of course in the medicine area where we can produce skin to
help the people who is burned to grow a new skin in their bodies, also
other parts of the slave bodies can be used in other and more complicated
medicine

 areas, the SPA was working with us to make a legislation on how and when a
slave can be used in this specific matters, and the status of the slaves
was lowered into a category that is lower than the animals, and with this
we can use them as I have explained you, so now all the slave owners and
more important all the owners who have slave farms can have more profits
for their investment, and only they have to read the legislation to know
how to take advantage of this new opportunities".



"This is all I had to tell you, and I wish your children good luck, and
remember if for any reason they are enslaved anyway they will continue be
useful to our country and citizens, so have a good night and thank you for
your attention"



"Jeez Dad, that was very strong don't you think?"

"Well Nathan I don't think so, what the president said was an old demand of
every people who owned slaves"

"But Dad, can you tell me who is going to eat slave's meat?"

"A lot of people Jacob, unfortunately the humans are responsible for the
reduction of the animal species, so if we don't want extinguish them we
can't eat their meat, so we need to find another resource and in this case
the slaves are the best option"

"Would you eat the flesh of one of us dad if we were slaves?"

"If I'm hungry certainty I would do Robert"

"Father don't joke with things like this please"

"Listen to me boys, we need to feed our people and we don't have enough
animal meat to do that, and the import of vegetable is very expensive so
the government has to invest a lot of money in buy them and put them into
the market on a lower price, so what do you do if you need to feed your
citizens?, well I guess to find sources and in this case the slaves are the
best source don't you think so?"

Any of the boys didn't dare to answer to their father, so he laughed and
just said

"Ok boys lest go to have dinner this can be the last one we have together
as a hole family"

A house slave was sent to call Stanley and Spike, the first one who arrived
very fast to the dining room a took his place beside his father was
Stanley, but Spike took longer time than necessary and Anders had to send
the slave back to call him, and when Spike appeared Anders was really peace
off with him.

"What is going on with you Spike? We have been waiting for you for several
minutes, don't you think that you must show some respect to your brothers
and me?

"Sorry Dad but this wasn't on purpose I was talking with Dan, and his mom
is hysteric"

"That's true Spike I heard one of her brothers was sent to jail this
morning and his trial will be next Monday"

"Exactly Dad, but the weird thing is that even his uncle doesn't know the
reason why he was arrested"

"Well I guess their Attorney will find out before the trial starts"

Suddenly Stanly raised his cup that was filled with wine like the others
and said

"I want to propose a toast for all those that will keep his freedom"

This took for surprise to his brothers who didn't follow him, just his
father did, and then all the family started to eat.



At the school where the Andersen were students the board was reunited with
the Slave Police (PE), to establish the procedure about how they were going
to enslave the students who could not reach the minimum average in their
grades.

"It's my main concern about how you're going to enslave the students
tomorrow with out causing much trouble to the other ones" Said the director
of the board to the SP representative.

"You don't have to worry about anything Mr. Albert we have plenty
experience about how to handle slaves"

"I know you have it officer, I have seen you deal with them before, my main
concern is about how to protect the students that are not going to be
enslaved, I'm sure every one of them are going to louse at least one friend
and even a brother, so I want for them this experience be the less
traumatic as possible"

"You should know Mr. Albert that any kind of enslavement is traumatic for
the free citizens, is impossible to avoid that"

"I know that your team is a professional one officer, so what I'm asking
you is find out a way that the free students can't see how you enslaved the
others, and save them the painful situation to witness this traumatic
moment"

"May I ask why you are so concerned about this specific matter Mr. Albert?
A free citizen must witnesses this procedure"

"Officer I'm not going to answer this question, because is not your
business, just please find a way to do what I'm asking you, is that clear?
Or do you want that I call your boss and ask him what I want?"

"Is not necessary that Sir, I will find a way to do what you want"

"Thank you officer I appreciate your collaboration in this specific matter"

Then Mr. Albert turned to face his assistant and the professors who were
the chief of every class imparted in the school.

"Now gentlemen that we have sorted how we can protect the students that are
not going to be enslaved I need to know now how many of our students are
going to be enslaved tomorrow"

"Mr. Albert this afternoon we received the official list from the Education
Minister and unfortunately I have to say that 600 students must be enslaved
tomorrow"

The face of the Director was pale as soon as he heard the news.

"My God there is almost the half of our student body, how this could
happen?"

"Sir this is simple, with any kind of information a lot of our students
thought the were doing well with out knowing they were in the limit, we
have reviewed the names of every of the students that are in the list, and
the 90% almost reached the minim average, and the worst is that must of
them had the lower grades at the beginning of the year and not at the end,
but with any reference they thought that they were doing well" Said the
professor responsible for the academic area.

"Another thing that we must to face is that some parents are going to ask
you an explanation about the failure of their children, and if you want the
true, I don't have any one to give them because must of the boys did very
well at the end of the year" Said the psychologist.

"I guess the best option that we have is make that the representative of
the educational minister gives them the explanation"

"Wait a minute Mr. Albert is not our fault that the students have failed to
keep the minimum average"said the government representative.

"I'm sorry to tell you this, but if the student had known their notes must
of them would keep their freedom, and is not the school fault because the
grades of the students shows that they did well at the end, so I guess if
any parent ask for explanation you have to answer them"

"Now we have to establish the way that we're going to call every student,
so they can know if they are still a free citizen or they're slaves" Said
the director assistant.

"I guess the best option is take all the students at the same time to the
auditorium and start to call them by a random selection that should be made
to day" said the psychologist.

"Ok, good idea the computer is going to do that, so lets go to our houses
to rest to be ready to face tomorrow and let the SP do their job so they
can do what I asked them, and gentlemen tomorrow will be a hard day, " said
the director.



The country legislation had provided several ways to enslave its citizens,
the first one was by born, that means that a child that one or both of his
or her parents were slaves then by inheritance he or she was slave.

The second one was by broken the law, in this case the citizen was sent to
a trial, and if he or she was found guilty then he has three kinds of
slavery, for minor infractions must of them administrative he or she should
be enslaved for 5 years, the second one for minor robbery or minor fraud
the citizen should be enslaved for 10 years, and other more serious
infraction then the citizen should be enslaved for life, in this case the
judge could change the verdict if he considered that the jury had committed
a mistake, but he had to be very careful about that because if he changed
the verdict, then he has to explain why he had done this and convinced the
other judged otherwise he could be enslaved.

The third way that a citizen could be enslaved was by a lottery, the
government had the responsibility to count every day births, and give every
child a number, so when the day was over and the authorities knew how many
babies were born in the country, then by a random selection they selected
the numbers that were going to be enslaved, and this should be the 30% of
the new born that day, and on the first hours of the following day the
parents were notified if their children had been enslaved, if the child was
enslaved by the lottery the parents had the right to keep him or her until
his or her 16th birthday, but the child could be taken a way for them since
the age of 12 if this was necessary.

For citizens who have to be enslaved for 5 or 10 year if they had a child
while they were enslaved then the child was a slave for life and the
property of their owner and they could not reclaim the child when they were
freed, and the minimum age to be enslaved for the free citizen was 12 years
old, only the breed slaves where slaves from his birth until his dead.

And the Fourth way that a citizen could be enslaved was for failed in the
school grade, in all case the schools were only for boys or for girls, and
even all the students who went to private school and their parents paid for
their education they should be enslaved in case they failed to reach the
minimum average required.





When Spike finished his dinner he went out of the dinning room to his room
when he saw Jacob seated in the living room with his hand on his face and
he was sobbing, then Spike sat down beside him and put one of his arms
around his shoulders.

"Why are you like this Jacob what is bothering you?

"I'm scaring Spike I don't know if I'm going to survive if I'm enslaved"

"Come on man don't think like this, you know that you're not going to be
enslaved"

"The last year I had an idea about how things were but this year I don't"

"Well any one of us has any idea about that, but as you know, you were
studying very hard so I'm sure you did well"

"You say that because you're very cleaver and you're confident about your
success, but me I don't know I have worked hard to have good grades, but
some times I feel as I failed"

"Don't worry anymore Jacob I'm sure you did well so you don't have to worry
about anything so just lest go and have some rest, tomorrow will be a long
day, because after school I want go with you and celebrate our Success ok?"

 Jacob smiled to his brother stand up and went to their rooms.



Jacob and Spike always had been together even they went to same parties,
and they used to share all the things they had, Spike really loved him, and
Jacob always felt lost with out Spike.

Robert was more independent and he always tried to follow Nathan's steps
but he never hanged out with him, he used to put attention about his
behavior on different circumstances and he try to put them considering his
personality.

Nathan was much more like Stanley, he was independent and he liked to do
what he wanted but always following the rules of his family, and of course
he was taking care of his younger brothers specially Spike he didn't know
why, but he felt that Spike needed him.

Stanley since he had memory had hated all his brothers, because he thought
that they were intruders in his world, he always was thinking about all the
Andersen fortune and properties belonged to him and no to his brothers, so
he was determinate to take them out of his pat and reach his target that
was be the only heir of his father fortune.
